The Fakability and Validity of an Integrity - Based IAT

چکیده

This study concerns the validity and fakability of an integrity-based IAT (the IAT-sp); an adaptation of one developed by Fischer and Bates (2008). Data provide evidence for the assessments validity. While less predictive of deviance, the IAT-sp was found to be significantly less easily faked than an explicit integrity assessment. PRESS PARAGRAPH Employee theft and other counterproductive behaviors have spawned a large market of assessments intended to assess applicant integrity. Despite some promising results, these assessments are susceptible to applicant faking. This study evaluates a reaction time-based measure of integrity. This new measure correlates with engaging in counterproductive behaviors yet is much less easily faked than more traditional integrity measures.

Using Implicit Association Tests for the Assessment of Implicit Personality Self-Concept

Psychologists have long suspected that people do not have good access to their own thoughts and feelings and that self-exploration is subject to introspective limits. Empirical evidence supports this view (e.g., Nisbett & Wilson, 1977). What results is a compelling claim for measurement procedures suitable for the assessment of cognitive processes that remain obscured if people are simply asked...

An ontological test of the IAT: Self-activation can increase predictive validity.

Extensive research has been conducted demonstrating the predictive validity and reliability of the Implicit Association Test (IAT) for a broad array of behaviors and contexts. This contribution focuses on examining whether a core theoretical foundation of the IAT paradigm is valid, specifically, whether the IAT effect...

What does the implicit association test measure? A test of the convergent and discriminant validity of prejudice-related IATs.

Drawing on recent criticism of the Implicit Association Test (IAT), the present study tested the convergent and discriminant validity of two prejudice-related IATs to corresponding explicit prejudice measures in a German student sample (N = 61). Confirming convergent validity, (a) an IAT designed to assess negative associations related to Turkish people was significantly related to the explicit...
